2017 Irish Potatoes Now Being Harvested
Po-TAY-to or po-TAH-to? Which do you say? Either way, it is that time of year again. With the arrival of March comes the first harvest of Irish Potatoes. This once a year treat is eagerly anticipated. Finally the wait is over.
What is an Irish potato? An old-fashioned, traditional handmade candy made to resemble a freshly dug potato from the ground. Inside is a coconut cream centre, which gets rolled in a cinnamon mixture, giving the outside that distinct fresh harvested look. No need to wash these treats before eating though.
The final harvesting for 2017 takes place on St. Patrick’s Day – Friday March 17th. Get yours before the crop is gone!
