Hot Hot Hot!

 In Announcements

We are officially into summer with yet another scorching hot, humid day. So it is time to revisit our cold drink options.

New this season from Gourmet du Village are lemonade mixes. Plain lemonade made with Meyer lemons – a sweeter fruit that is a cross between a lemon and mandarin orange – plus three different flavoured varieties are available.

  • Lemonade
  • Cherry lemonade
  • Peach lemonade
  • Raspberry lemonade

They make nice additions to a gift basket as well as a lovely cool treat.

Iced teas are another cooling option. Each pouch of loose leaf Metropolitan tea comes with an iced tea recipe on the back, which we also have on our tea page. In addition to a wide variety of black, flavoured black and green teas there are a number of non caffeine options. The red teas are naturally without caffeine, as are the herbal teas, fruit and herb tisanes, plus decaffeinated black or green teas.

We have our favourite iced coffee recipe on the coffee page, but have also experimented with a couple of quick options. Choose your favourite coffee, flavoured or not, or try something new.

Mix:

  • 1 1/4 cup (300 mL) cold coffee
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) 5% cream
  • 1 – 2 tsp sugar, or to add taste

Enjoy as is, or add ice in either crushed or cube form. Use different percentages of cream to suit your taste, or for something different use chocolate milk instead of cream.

Stay cool!
